Facing a life threatening illness is a very difficult experience for individuals and for their families. The Hospice at May Court is here to offer support and care through home support, day hospice, family support and residential programs. Our unique community funded organization provides support and services, free of charge, to people living with life threatening illnesses and to their families. The Hospice at May Court is funded 15% by the government and 85% by donations. Your contribution means everything.
- 1. In Memoriam Donations
- With an “in memoriam donation” the Hospice will send a card to the family to notify them of your gift and will send you a tax receipt. While you honour your own special memories of a friend or a loved one, your gift will go on to provide comfort for many other patients and families in their time of need.

- 2. Planned or Deferred Giving
A planned gift is a special gift for the future, which provides a source of financial support for the Hospice while also providing opportunities for individuals to achieve personal tax benefits. These gifts are arranged in the present, usually within an individual's estate or financial plan, but actualized at a later date. Examples of planned gifts include; bequests, life insurance, charitable gift annuities, and gifts of personal and real property.

- 3. Corporate Alliance Program
The support we receive from our friends in the corporate community is greatly appreciated, although it has been limited. Corporate involvement is integral to the growth of The Hospice at May Court. We are committed not only to developing and maintaining partnerships, but also to bringing the donors closer to patients and residents who benefit from their generosity. There are several opportunities for corporate involvement. Please call to discuss an appropriate opportunity for your organization.
- 4. Events
Every year some of our friends in the community host events to benefit the Hospice at May Court; these third party events are an important source of funds. If you are interested in hosting an event to support end-of-life care in the community, please contact our Director of Development at the Hospice.
- 5. Endowment Fund
The Hospice opened an endowment fund with The Community Foundation of Ottawa several years ago. Contributing to this fund helps to ensure the future of the Hospice’s programs. Your donation will be added to the existing capital of the fund and it will be preserved there while generating a perpetual source of income. When our Endowment fund reaches three million dollars, the interest earned on the combined investments will secure our residential program forever. Tax receipts are provided for all contributions.
- 6. Monthly Giving
Monthly Giving is a way of maximizing your contributions to The Hospice at May Court. Your regular, monthly gifts made through post dated cheques provide an anticipated stream of donations allowing us to fund our programs with certainty and giving us the ability to make commitments to projects that will have a long-term impact because we can rely on a regular monthly cash flow.
